Destiny update: Bungie set to unleash fierce new Taken King fight following rewards news
BUNGIE have revealed that Destiny fans will see a fiercer fight in the Taken King return, following the recent update on some of the developer’s rewards systems.
UPDATE ONE: As Bungie continue to update Destiny and the game's latest expansion, The Taken King, publisher Activision Blizzard have revealed the increased number of registered users on Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
The company's official earnings report shows that the figure is now up to 25 million, an increase of 5 million on May and 9 millions on February.
"Daily player engagement is now well above 3 hours per day and the Destiny community has climbed to over 25 million registered players," the report states.
It also concludes that Destiny has become the most watched console game on Twitch, while more information is expected to be shared during the company's investor call later today.
The report didn't reveal how many of those accounts are still active, although the overall stats shared did list some of the game's successes from the September launch of The Taken King.
"On September 15, 2015, Activision Publishing and Bungie released The Taken King, the largest update to the Destiny universe yet, which was enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike," the report continues.
"Day-one downloads broke PlayStation records, day-one engagement saw the highest number of active players in Destiny's history."
Bungie have confirmed that they plan to launch more quests and items for free for the immediate future, while the Eververse Trading Company provides paid-for content.
The studio have unveiled their plans to reintroduce the Trials of Osiris endgame, having made several changes for gamers in Year Two.
Requiring a minimum character level of 40 for the competitive event, players are set to encounter a fiercer challenge in line with what Bungie has planned for the coming months.
Senior Designer Derek Carroll shared some new information on what fans could expect from the revitalised TOO, which officially kicked off on October 30.
Having seen the original design taken on and resoundingly beaten by fans, Carroll hopes the changes will provide more of a challenge for those slick fireteams who made it with ease to the Lighthouse last time round.

Destiny update: Bungie reveal big Taken King changes and talk economy improvements
| Destiny Taken King changes are coming from Bungie |
DESTINY will see new improvements to the Taken King from Bungie, who are hoping to do more tinkering with quests, bounties and the game's economy.
Two new studio updates are planned for November and December that will look to improve core aspects of the game.
Other changes include Banshee-44 accepting Glimmer as a form of payment, while other big hints have been dropped that a second December update will look to tweak how players interact with Petra and Eris.
"First up, we have a November Update in the pipeline, packed with the improvements to Quests and Bounties that we’ve already promised, along with some other promises we have yet to make," Bungie community manager, David Dague posted online.
"As part of the November update, we’re authorizing Banshee-44 as your Weapon Parts dealer. He’ll accept Glimmer as a form of payment.
"In all sincerity, as the curators of your living social world, we reserve the right to tinker with the economy. We also reserve the right to change our minds again once we’ve had a chance to read the forum. Thanks for giving enough of a damn to tell us what’s up.
"On that note, you’ll see yet more welcome changes to the in-game economy in the December update.
"Rumor has it that Petra will have use for your Etheric Light, and Eris has been asking if anyone out there is hoarding a surplus of Worm Spore. Turns out she loves the stuff."

It follows the return of the first Trials of Osiris since the launch of The Taken King expansion, with Bungie offering some juicy stats on how returning players did.
It appears Bungie's attempts to make multiplayer matchmaking more challenging has payed off, with 133,444 players making it to the Lighthouse at least once.
It shows a significant drop on the same stats from May, which saw 188,442 make it.
Having unleashed the fierce new Taken King fight, 820,986 gamers on Xbox and PlayStation platforms took part but only 16.25 percent made it through.
