PlayStation Experience: Sony reveal plans for PS4 surprises
PS4 fans can look forward to a few more surprises from Sony at the PlayStation Experience in December.
For those who watched the PlayStation conference at Paris Games Week, complete with Gran Turismo Sport and PlayStation VR announcements, it may seem unlikely that much was left for Sony's event close to the holidays.
Attending PlayStation Experience 2015 in San Francisco on December 5 and 6 includes some major developers, including Activision, Ubisoft, Bungie, Naughty Dog, Square Enix and EA.
And while big keynote presentations have been promised for Saturday morning and a long list of titles revealed to be playable, fans may also get a little extra than they were banking on.
PlayStation's European boss Jim Ryan hinted that more could be revealed before the end of 2015, which could come from Sony or some of the major developers listed above.
"I'm sure there'll be a few surprises for PlayStation Experience," Ryan told Eurogamer.
"Moving from a global calendar of three events to a calendar of four events, it keeps the heat on the developers to churn out new stuff, which is good."
Ryan also spoke about the possibility of The Last Guardian making an appearance at the PlayStation Experience, adding: "The reaction that thing got at E3 - it was very nicely delivered.
"I love those games - the first two - they're really the sort of games that inspired genuine emotion in me as I played them. It's quite special."
And while PlayStation have promised that although their confirmed list of independently developed games looked good, there will be a lot more to come.
The Capcom Cup will also be held at PlayStation Experience this year as a one-day special event open to all attendees on Sunday, December 6, acting as the final culmination of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour and the official Street Fighter eSports league, the Capcom Cup will feature 32 of the world’s best players competing for the title of “Street Fighter World Champion” and a shot at a $250,000 prize pool.

The 33rd annual Golden Joystick Awards saw Grand Theft Auto 5 pick up four awards for Best Multi-Player for its online version, while the introduction of the first-person mode won Innovation of the Year.
Other awards included Best PC Game and the PlayFire Most Played Award, if anything spells success like bringing in the gongs, then Grand Theft Auto has proved it can still battle with the best of them.
It should also be noted that the Golden Joystick Awards is the only gaming award ceremony in the world voted for by the gamers themselves and included over 9 million votes cast.

Fallout 4 update: Bethesda scores with PS4, Xbox One and PC title, talk frame rate reports
FALLOUT 4's launch is pointing to Bethesda scoring big success with their latest title, while members of the team have been talking about the frame rate reports on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
An early indication on how big the Fallout 4 release has been comes from some of the stats supplied on Steam, where the concurrent players numbers show a healthy interest in the open-world RPG.
As of this time, Fallout 4 has over 400,000 concurrent users, setting it in third place behind DOTA 2 (548,000) and CS: GO (585,000).
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, which launched last week, has over 42,000, while GTA 5 registers over 35,000.
Fallout 4 reportedly debuted after midnight with over 280,000 cocurrent players, a solid start to the highly anticipated title.
It means a new record has been set for a non-Steam game with the highest cocurrent players, after GTA 5 went over 300,000 in April.
Like all big launches though, Fallout 4's hasn't been without a few hiccups.
UK retailer GAME have experience difficulty supplying Fallout 4 pre-orders and have since defended themselves following the problems with payment issues.
“On Friday, a small number of our customers who pre-ordered the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition online experienced payment issues which has resulted in reports of orders not being fulfilled,” the retailer told MCV.
“GAME can confirm that these payment issues were not caused by our systems, and instead arose due to customers’ banks or PayPal accounts not allowing payment to go through. This is mainly caused by expired bank account details.
“At every stage, we have reassured our customers that their Pip-Boys have been reserved for them. Since Friday, our customer service team has been working hard to contact all impacted customers to ensure that as many orders as possible are fulfilled for launch day.
"Each customer has been, or will be, contacted individually to reprocess their order and we have extended the opening hours of our distribution centre and customer services to facilitate this."
Bethesda have also had to defend themselves over Fallout 4's frame rate, which fans and reviewers have pointed out as hitting low marks on PS4 and Xbox One.
Studio VP Pete Hines replied to fans before the title's launch, who asked about the PS4 frame rate reports from recent reviews, telling them: "No they aren't. they regurgitated one thing one person said. game runs well on PS4."
And when someone else pointed to a recent performance analysis of the game that questioned how well the game could run at 30fps and his own past comments about Fallout 4's performance, Hines pointed out: "I told you my experiences. Article says "Fallout 4 does hold 30fps as a general rule". So..."
The Digital Foundry review quoted in full, reads: "All things put into perspective, Fallout 4 does hold 30fps as a general rule, but drops are noticeable. For example, moving between major city areas is a particular strain on the engine, causing PS4 and Xbox One to drop to 20fps in matching spots on the map."

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Zombies Mode set to be expanded on PS4, Xbox One and PC
![]() |
| Black Ops 3 Zombies mode fans will be pleased by the new mode reveal |
CALL of Duty fans who have been enjoying Black Ops 3 Zombies Mode have yet another update to look forward to on Xbox One, PS4 and PC
Treyarch have taken it upon themselves to add a secret fourth mode to the game that launched last week.
Like the days of old, completing the main campaign on a Call of Duty game unlocks a new easter egg that Zombies mode fans are going to like.
Called Nightmares, the new mode allows you to play through the game again, this time with a refreshed storyline and new enemies to defeat.

| Black Ops 3 Nightmare is available after completing the main campaign |
It includes zombies invading the main campaign and even has its own trailer showcasing some of the new carnage.
Treyarch revealed more about the new mode, telling fans: "It’s part of our studio's DNA to launch a game with a few surprises – and we see that some of you have already begun to find your way to this one.
"If you complete the Campaign, you can access “Nightmares” mode and play it again in an entirely new way…but with Zombies."
“With Black Ops III, we wanted to create a Call of Duty game like no other, one that brings innovations to every mode in the game and introduces a few new surprises along the way, all while staying true to the gritty, blockbuster thrill ride for which the franchise is known. And Treyarch has delivered,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing Inc..
“This game is so fun, so deep, so varied and has so many kick ass twists and turns, that we couldn’t be prouder of it. And we think our fans are going to love it.”
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 campaign propels players forward to a future world dominated by cutting-edge technology, where bio-technology and cybernetic enhancements have given rise to a new breed of Black Ops soldier.
However, in Nightmares mode we find out that an outbreak reduces the human population to a few hundred million people scattered across the world, with the undead clocking in at over 7 billion.
Doesn't seem fair at all.
Black Ops 3 down: Call of Duty fans hit by PS4, Xbox One and PC server issues
BLACK Ops 3 fans have reported a spate of issues affecting playing the game on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
UPDATE FIVE: The PS4 is now the only platform left with a warning from the Activision Support team when it comes to server access.
A recent hotfix was deployed with Treyarch revealing today some of the Game Settings that have changed with update 33.11.12, including Minor playlist updates, changes to Arena Pro; and Nuk3town now in the Chaos Moshpit.
The Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC have all been listed as fully operational, and for those who are still being affected by online connection problems and the PlayStation 4 Error Code CE-34878-0, there are now some new tips on how to work round them.
For those still receiving CE-34878-0 errors after updating, try the following suggestions:
- If a PS Camera is connected to the system, remove it and reboot the system, then turn off Enable Face Recognition.
- From the PlayStation 4 home screen, select Settings.
- Select User.
- Select Login Settings.
- Uncheck Enable Face Recognition.
- If you have upgraded the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in your console, please re-install the original HDD.
- If the error occurs again, back up your saved data, and then:
- From the PlayStation 4 home screen, select Settings.
- Select Initialization.
- Select Initialize PS4.
UPDATE FOUR: Activision have provided a new update on the server issues affecting Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 gamers.
"We’re still hard at work looking at the intermittent server issues," a message from the company's support team was posted to Twitter earlier today.
The official server status site now lists all platforms as green but also warns that some PS4 players around the globe may still be facing issues.
"All services are online, however, users in some regions are reporting intermittent connectivity issues," the Activision status page confirms.
"We are monitoring the situation closely."
Activision have also supplied a fix for players who are still unable to claim their pre-order bonus maps of Nuk3town and The Giant.
The problem has been listed as solved by Microsoft but a new work around has been posted just in case.
It includes: Navigating to settings, selecting system, choosing Console Info & Updates and clicking on update now.
UPDATE THREE: Activision have listed PC PS4 and PS3 servers as being offline or 'Not Good', several days after the game's official launch. "Online services are degraded. Users in some regions may experience connectivity issues," the Activision server status page currently reads for PS4, PS3 and PC. Microsoft have since confirmed that problems affecting players collecting their DLC bonus content from pre-purchasing have been fixed. All online services on the Xbox One and Xbox 360, meanwhile are listed as fully operational. UPDATE TWO: Activision say they are working hard to resolve issues surrounding playing Black Ops 3 on PlayStation consoles, which has resulted in a large surge of fans reporting issues today. An official response from the support team confirms: "We are aware that some customers are encountering intermittent connectivity issues with Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PlayStation consoles. "We are actively working to have the servers at full functionality as soon as possible. "Thank you for your patience." UPDATE ONE: Gamers are reporting fresh problems connecting to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 servers on all of the main platforms. Issues are being seen in both North America and the UK, with some players finding server loads reaching 60 per cent and then freezing. One fan commented online: "It is STILL down since early last night! "It kicks me and my friends out of just about every game and Nuketown is only available for the weekend, doesn't feel like there was any point in pre-ordering anything these days." Fans on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 has reported an assortment of issues accessing key areas of the game since its launch. An official Activision update on one of those problems, downloading the DLC pre-ordered items, has been resolved, according to the support team. "We have received reports that some players are unable to access either The Giant and NUK3TOWN map on Xbox One. "This issue has been resolved. Be sure that your Xbox One is up to date." There was a surge of reports this afternoon that server issues had flared up again, although for some it hadn't been fully fixed from earlier this week.
The peak of the issues started during the game's launch earlier today, with some PC gamers unable to play the game due to frame rate problems. Treyarch have since released guidance on the issue, telling fans: "There have been reports of certain i5 CPUs having performance issues causing very low frame rates - We are still working on the final solution for this issue, but we have had reports that changing WorkerThreads = 4 to WorkerThreads = 2 in your config.ini file can help." Other console gamers have seen themselves unable to play online, with Activision advising fans to restart their PS4 or Xbox One to download the latest game update. Fans have also highlighted issues downloading the Nuk3town and The Giant DLC maps on Xbox One, something Microsoft say they have been investigating. A message on the Xbox support site explains: "We understand some of you who purchased the Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Deluxe Edition are being prompted to repurchase a Season Pass for the game and can't access the Nuk3town and The Giant bonus maps, "We want to assure you we're working to fix this as quickly as possible." A message on the Xbox support site explains: "We understand some of you who purchased the Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Deluxe Edition are being prompted to repurchase a Season Pass for the game and can't access the Nuk3town and The Giant bonus maps, "We want to assure you we're working to fix this as quickly as possible." Xbox One and PS4 players weren't the only fans hit by Black Ops issues today, with Xbox 360 and PS3 owners also complaining of server issues.
One fan wrote: "Purchased the game last night for Xbox 360 at midnight, wasn't able to get online till 1am then after an hour I was no longer able to get multiplayer online." While another wrote: "I bought Call of Duty for PS3 this morning for my daughter. She has been waiting for months for this day to come. We get home and she can't play game. What is going on and how long until it's fixed? Very upset parent." A message from the Activision support team confirmed that they were looking into issues on the last-gen consoles. "Xbox 360 & PS3 - Having problems finding a match on BO3? The teams are aware & are investigating now. We appreciate your patience," the support message reads.
